Sub: Rationalisation of SC reservation in AP – Introduction of Bill in Parliament – Req. – Reg.

Respected Sir,

Distribution of SC Reservation opportunities to all the 59 castes of SCs proportionately, based on their population, has been the demand and struggle of Madigas (Charmakars) and Rellies (Manual Scavengers) of Andhra Pradesh, for the last 30 years.

Recently, Justice Usha Mehra Commission constituted by the Govt of India, also recommended for rationalization (categorization) of SCs in AP by amending Article 341 of the Constitution.

There is an urgent need for providing equal distribution of reservation benefits to all communities of SCs at least in the forthcoming academic year. To this extent, there is a need for the Parliament to make an Act immediately.

In the light of above, we request you to kindly initiate the process of amending Article 341 of the Constitution in the present winter parliament session.
